BICARB GEL 40 Vanilla 1:0.8 is our high-performance gel containing bicarbonate – designed specifically for functionality and effectiveness. Thanks to innovative encapsulation technology, the bicarbonate is released specifically in the small intestine and absorbed into the bloodstream from there. It differs significantly from our classic GEL 40 products in both flavour and intended use. A vanilla flavour from pure ground vanilla combines with the salty note of the bicarbonate. Per serving, the gel provides 40 grams of rapidly available carbohydrates in a 1:0.8 ratio and 5 grams of bicarbonate.

With 5 grams of sodium and potassium bicarbonate per serving, this high-performance gel is ideal for loading before the start or during competition, as well as for re-loading to stabilise bicarbonate levels during intense exercise.

Bicarbonate can act as an extracellular buffer in the blood and may potentially enable higher performance during exercise lasting up to 10 minutes. BICARB GEL 40 Vanilla 1:0.8 can be combined with other products from the 1:0.8 series and is suitable for competitions and intensive training where a carbohydrate intake of up to 120 grams per hour is targeted.

Top-Up Protocol: Once BICARB loading is complete, BICARB GEL 40 Vanilla 1:0.8 can be taken during the second half of the exercise to specifically maintain levels.

Gel-Only-Protocol: Without prior loading, you can consume up to a maximum of 4 BICARB GEL 40 Vanilla 1:0.8 gels during exercise to gradually raise bicarbonate levels for a final surge or sprint. During competition or a training session you can ingest up to four BICARB GEL 40s to reach an amount of 20 grams of bicarbonate.
